What is wellbeing? This frequently used modern word obvious means different things to different people. Let me, if I may, give you my interpretation of how to enjoy health and wellbeing. I see wellbeing as having 5 major components:-
BREATHINGThis may seem pretty obvious; we quickly die if we stop breathing but it is the quality of the air we breathe and the quality of the way we breathe that quickly affects our health. Most people do not use the whole of their lungs to breathe. Typically people shallow breathe from the top of the chest. To breathe properly you must expand the diaphragm which means your tummy needs to be expanding as you breathe in and reducing as you breathe out. There are many books on breathing and if you have ever tried a yoga class you will have learnt some excellent techniques. If not, start to consciously think and appreciate your breathing - to breathe is to live. Make time during your day to just notice how you are breathing. What is the secret of happiness? A question we all ask ourselves at times; I believe that if we approach life with gratitude for what we have that is a big step towards happiness. Live with joy!
